In the event of changes in the workers’ information, or the work permit is damaged or lost, the enterprise must conduct the procedure for the re-issuance of the work permit. Accordingly, what is the procedure for the re-issuance of a work permit?
1. Cases of re-issuance of a work permit
Enterprises implement the re-issuance of the work permit in the following cases:
- The unexpired work permit is lost.
- The unexpired work permit is damaged.
- The unexpired work permit needs changes of full name, nationality, passport number, or working place thereon.
Note: In case the enterprise changes its name, the enterprise must implement the procedure for issuance of a new work permit instead of re-issuance.
2. Procedures for re-issuance of work permits
- Licensing authority: The Department of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs
- Estimated time: 03 working days
- Applications include:
+ An application form for re-issuance of work permit made by the employer.
+ 02 color photos.
+ The unexpired work permit:

If the work permit is lost as specified in clause 1 Article 12 Decree 152/2020/ND-CP, a certification issued by the police authority of the commune where the foreign worker resides or by a foreign competent authority as per the law is required.

In case of changes of information in the work permit, supporting documents are required.
For example: Passport of the employee in case of new passport or change of personal information; Certificate of Enterprise Registration in case of change of working location, etc.
+ An acceptance of demand for foreign workers.
2. Validity period of re-issued work permit
The validity period of the re-issued work permit shall coincide with that of the former work permit minus the duration that the foreign worker has worked up to the submission date of the re-issuance application.
