Sports business is a popular industry in today's market. When participating in this business, organizations and individuals need to meet several specific conditions as prescribed in order to apply for a Certificate of sports business qualification.
So, what are the conditions to be issued this type of certificate? Siglaw would like to provide details of the current regulations of Vietnam's law on sports business conditions in the article below.
1. Conditions for Professional Sports Clubs
To be issued a Certificate of sports business qualification, a professional sports club needs to meet the following conditions:
a) Conditions on the contingent of professional officers and employees
- The club's professional coach must meet one of the following conditions:

Having a university degree in physical training and sport with a major relevant to professional sports activities and complete the professional coach training program of the national sports federation.

Or having a professional coach license issued by a continental or world sports federation of professional sports.

Or having a foreign professional coach's license recognized by the continental or world sports federation of professional sports.
- The club's professional athletes must meet the following conditions:

Having a labor contract with a professional sports club.

Recognized by the national sports federation as a professional athlete (in the case of a foreign athlete participating in professional sports in Vietnam, an international transfer certificate and a work permit must be obtained).
- Medical staff must have a medical college degree or higher.
b) Conditions on facilities and equipment
Facilities and equipment for training and competition shall ensure national technical regulations, Vietnamese standards or international standards and conform to regulations of international professional sports organizations.
2. Conditions for Enterprises
To be granted a Certificate of sports business qualification, an enterprise must meet the following conditions:
a) Conditions on the contingent of professional officers and employees
For enterprises doing business in adventure sports (including 10 types: Training and competition Motor paragliding; Non-engine paragliding; Motorized flying kites; Non-engine flying kites; Self-climbing mountaineering nature; Scuba diving, recreational sports; marine water motorbikes; off-road sports cars; sports motorcycles; terrain bicycles)
The requirement for an adventure sports business enterprise to be granted a Certificate of sports business qualification is to have sufficient professional staff, including a sports training instructor, lifeguards and paramedics, in particular:
An enterprise's sports training instructor must meet one of the following:

Being a coach or athlete with a level of level 2 or higher or equivalent suitable for sports activities registered for business.

Or having a degree in physical training and sport from intermediate level or higher in accordance with the registered sports activities.

Or receiving professional training in sports as prescribed by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Lifeguards are always on duty.
Permanent medical staff or businesses must have a document with the nearest medical facility about medical staff for first aid and emergency in case of necessity.
For enterprises doing business in sports activities having a trainer is required (including the following 9 types: Training and competition Artificial Mountain climbing; Ice skating; Horse racing; Fencing sports; Shooting; Archery; Gymnastics; Aerobics; Rowing)
The requirement for enterprises of the above groups to be granted a Certificate of sports business qualification is to have a sports instructor.
For businesses doing water sports activities, only a Lifeguard is required.
b) Conditions on facilities and equipment
Enterprises must have sports facilities and equipment that meet the requirements of sports activities and national technical regulations promulgated by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
(In case enterprises do sports activities on rivers, seas, lakes or large streams, they must have a lifeboat.)
3. Conditions for business households and other organizations
For business households and other organizations that have demand to do business in sports activities that require an instructor for exercise or adventure sports, they need to register their business establishment first and then apply the same conditions business as described above.
